Nearby parks and gardens
Belmont Park has semi-mature planting in an undulating grassland landscape. The site is bordered to the west by the railway line. On the west side of the railway is a dense belt of trees, many of which are fine and mature. This land is known locally as Old Belmont Hospital Meadow. The 1st edition OS 6inch map of 1866/7 shows the site as open land set between the railway and the Brighton Road.
The site was formerly part of Chalk Pit Field in East Cheam Manor Estate in c.1750. Quarry Park was laid out as a public park after the death in 1932 of Mrs Seears of Quarry Rise, but is probably little changed from the time of the Seears' ownership. The 1st edition OS Map of 1867 shows the quarry but no house or gardens to the north bordering Love Lane.
Sutton Cricket Ground contains a pavilion that was the original station premises of Sutton Station c.1847. The 1st edition OS map of 1867 shows the cricket ground on old farmland. The perimeter has been planted with young trees.
